Château de Chaintres welcomes you

The Château de Chaintres is located in the Saumur Champigny appellation, built in the XVII century

In 1675 the Oratoriens monks planted the first vines on the ground of the Château de Chaintres. Between all the terroirs in the region, they chose this one for the richness and the quality of its grounds. Wishing to protect their vineyard and to improve the microclimate of the terroir, they built a « clos », (a wall all around the estate), which is unique in the region.

Since 1938, the de Tigny family continues the tradition by developing refined wines. Elisabeth de Tigny Mourot, CEO, combines tradition and modernity to offer quality wines. We are one of the first domains in the appellation certified in integrated farming. For a better respect of the environment, the vines, aged between 40 & 80 years are converted in organic farming. Our wines are "certified organic" starting with the 2013 vintages by the Ecocert France Label. and certified biodynamics since 2020 vintage, par le label Ecocert France.

A renewal

A large number of important changes to the Domain in 2018 have already had a positive impact on our production:

The separation of the parcels and the identification of the terroirs allowed us to create cuvées with real identities, unique and precise.

Soil analyses of the vineyard have brought us a better knowledge of our terroirs and guide us in the design of our next cuvées. Maturity, harvest period and blends will improve the quality in a parcel winemaking process.

A better knowledge of biological methods and biodynamics already generates improved techniques in the vines and winery.
